If you’ve been feeling uninspired while house-hunting in the Springfield, Missouri area, prepare yourself to be wowed when you visit Trendsetter Homes’ new state-of-the-art sales center and model home at Twin Lakes. Inspired by the iconic American Craftsman style, Trendsetter Homes has created a portfolio of Modern Craftsman homes featuring emerging trends that begin with curb appeal and carries throughout the home.

Our goal of bringing a classic yet modern design aesthetic to homes that are affordable led us to choose Chelsee Sowder, Designer/Owner of Nest Interiors + Design, to help us create a new portfolio of homes for Twin Lakes. With the growing popularity of HGTV shows like Fixer Upper, buyers from all backgrounds are expecting more from builders and designers. Our approach has been to listen to what home buyers tell us they want and, with Chelsee’s help, create lifestyle-enhancing floor plans that are also affordable.

“I chose to blend multiple elements generally not found in our market, bringing our home buyers emerging trends that are within their reach. A mix of Craftsman exteriors boasting bold color transitions, trim in all the right places, clean lines, and timeless features highlights our Twin Lakes collection,” says Chelsee.

Chelsee notes that her inspiration stemmed from her enthusiasm for the original 1880s Craftsman revival, as well as her admiration of William Morris and Gustav Stickley, leaders in the American Arts and Crafts movement. Like Stickley, who preached that bungalows would give working-class families the chance to experience “serious architecture,” Trendsetter Homes is bringing that same aesthetic philosophy to the homes they build at Twin Lakes.

“Bringing Craftsman design to this community is our way of fulfilling the original purpose of this style. Exteriors normally found only in high-end custom homes are now obtainable by the average home buyer, thanks to the Trendsetter Homes team. But we’ve taken it even further by marrying the outstanding curb appeal of these homes with fresh, new open-concept floor plans and interior selections with a modern twist. It’s these elements that appeal to our home buyers.” Chelsee added.

The Trendsetter homes at Twin Lakes start in the $160s and range into the mid-$200s.
